“One Whole” exhibition

10 June — 14 August 2026 · Lakhta Centre, Saint Petersburg

Palaty Gallery, in partnership with Gazprom, opened an exhibition project at the Lakhta Centre in Saint Petersburg.

Visitors will see works that show the richness of cultural heritage — from traditional matting to contemporary techniques in textile, ceramics and metal. The pieces enter into dialogue with one another, forming a single picture of Russia's cultural landscape.

“One Whole” is a reminder that genuine culture lives where people keep working with their hands, passing skills from generation to generation.

“What Jobs We Work At” exhibition

31 May — 3 June 2026 · Korney Gallery, Moscow · curated by Anna Tararova

From 31 May to 3 June 2026, Korney Gallery hosted “What Jobs We Work At” — a group project by contemporary artists on a pressing and rarely discussed topic in the art world: combining art with paid work.

The project grew out of an online lab curated by Anna Tararova, in which participants spent three months exploring the phenomenon of the “working artist”: sharing personal experience and survival strategies, discussing labour through philosophical and economic lenses, and looking for ways to balance art practice with everyday life.

There is no single experience of combining art and work. For some artists, constant employment outside the art field leads to exhaustion, anxiety and an inability to fully develop their practice. For others, work becomes a space of observation, social connection and inspiration that directly shapes their method and the content of their work.

A key aim of the lab and exhibition is to legitimise the figure of the “working artist”. The project proposes abandoning the romantic image of the artist devoted solely to art, and seeing labour as an integral part of artistic life and production.

What is an artist's relationship with labour and work? How do we live and work amid uncertainty? And what could change the existing system?

The exhibition featured “Cloud Storage”, a work created during the lab.

“Between the Personal and the Collective” exhibition

An exhibition with a feeling of gentle sadness

2026 · Oktyabr Gallery, Belgorod · curated by Alyona Alekseeva

The group exhibition “Between the Personal and the Collective” reflects on how the personal grows into the shared, and the shared becomes part of the inner self. The participating artists address memory, childhood, attachment, family histories and domestic space.

We hope that after seeing the show you'll want to ask again about your family's story, take out an old letter, look more closely at the door of your flat, or let yourself cry where you once held back tears.

“8 Women Under Barter” exhibition

25 December 2024 · FABRIKA Centre, Moscow · curated by Anna Brandush

On 25 December 2024, the FABRIKA Centre for Creative Industries presented Anna Brandush's solo exhibition “8 Women Under Barter”. The project won the “Studio at Fabrika” category of the Fabrika Workshops programme.

Anna Brandush works in immaterial art — video and performance. But since a studio residency and a solo show unofficially require material objects, Anna invited seven other women artists to make physical works for her in exchange.

A certified coach, Anna held three to twelve hour-long coaching sessions with each artist on topics not directly related to art — most often leaving relationships, self-worth and earning money in other fields. For every hour of coaching, the invited artists worked an hour in the studio on paintings and objects for Anna's show. Anna thus combined the roles of artist, coach and curator.

The centrepiece is Anna Brandush's film, edited from the coaching sessions with the participating artists. The wall texts describe both the works and the issues each artist worked on in coaching, the number of sessions and the results they reached.

The project brought together institutional critique — the difficulty of presenting immaterial art and unpaid work in art, including barter — and feminism: all the participants are women, and we see the problems shared by artists, many of whom combine art with other jobs, relationships and motherhood.
